Help Impeach Dubya On January 15th - It's Fun and Easy!!
2006-11-01
...Give them this: it does show a certain imagination, although it's damned unlikely it's going to work. I say we beat these clowns to the punch and impeach a few Federal judges...heh, heh, heh..
"Impeach for Peace, a Minnesota-based moonbat impeachment group, has researched a method for impeaching the president using a little known and rarely used part of the Rules of the House of Representatives ("JeffersonÂ’s Manual"). This document actually empowers individual citizens to initiate the impeachment process themselves.

"Jefferson's Manual" is an interpretive guide to parliamentary procedure, and is included (along with the Constitution) in the bound volumes of the Rules of the House of Representatives. It is ratified by each congress (including the current one), and has been updated continuously through the history of our democracy. The section covering impeachment lists the acceptable vehicles for bringing impeachment motions to the floor of the House.

Before the House Judiciary Committee can put together the Articles of Impeachment, someone must initiate the impeachment procedure. Most often, this occurs when members of the House pass a resolution. Another method outlined in the manual, however, is for individual citizens to submit a memorial for impeachment.

After learning this information, Minnesotan and Impeach for Peace member (Jodin Morey) found precedent in an 1826 memorial by Luke Edward Lawless which had been successful in initiating the impeachment of Federal Judge James H. Peck. Impeach for Peace then used this as a template for their "Do-It-Yourself Impeachment." Now any citizen can download the DIY Impeachment Memorial and submit it, making it possible for Americans to do what our representatives have been unwilling to do. The idea is for so many people to submit the Memorial that it cannot be ignored.

Feel free to download it, print out TWO copies, fill in your relevant information in the blanks (name, State, notary is optional), and send in two letters today (One to the head of the Judiciary, and the other to John Conyers lead Democrat in the House Judiciary). There's also extra credit for sending a DIY Impeachment to your own representative.

Hold on to the other copy of the two letters until Jan. 15th(after the new congress) when we're having everyone send them in.

That's right — to make a big impact, we're having everyone send it in on the same date (Over 270,000 downloads so far representing over 1 million mailings). We hope to flood the Judiciary Committee and John Conyers office with sacks of mail and cause a newsworthy event to further pressure the Congress to act on the memorials. Although, it's important to keep in mind that in the 1826 precedent, impeachment resulted as a result of a single memorial. Yours might be the one."

#12  It takes 67 votes in the Senate to remove the President after he is impeached by the House. That is what saved Slick Willie, not enough Senators wanted him out. Think the Dems can get 67 votes against Bush in the Senate? No freaking way! Political death sentence for any Repub that votes that way, at the next election that that Senator stands in.
Remember, Slick Willie was impeached by the House and finished that last 2 years of his administration.

#8  If it ever comes to that point, the succession would be:
Speaker of the House: Nancy Pelosi
President pro tempore of the Senate: Harry Reid

#7  An addendum on the above - Guttierez and Chao are inelligible - Guttierez was born in Cuba, and Chao was born in Taiwan.

In late July 2005, the Senate passed a bill moving the Homeland Security secretary to number 8 on the list. The bill is awaiting House approval.

#6  They are planning to immediately impeach Cheney too.

So, the line of successions then goes,

Speaker of the House: Dennis Hastert
President pro tempore of the Senate Ted Stevens
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice
Secretary of the Treasury Henry Paulson
Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld
Attorney General Alberto Gonzales
Secretary of the Interior Dirk Kempthorne
Secretary of Agriculture Mike Johanns
Secretary of Commerce Carlos Gutierrez
Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao
Secretary of Health and Human Services Mike Leavitt
Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Alphonso Jackson
Secretary of Transportation Vacant
Secretary of Energy Samuel Bodman
Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings
Secretary of Veterans Affairs Jim Nicholson
Secretary of Homeland Security4 Michael Chertoff

I don't see Nancy Pelosi, Charlie Rangel, Hillary Clinton, John Kerry, Harry Reid, Howard Dean, or any other name in there that might vault the Dems to power in a sudden surge.

In fact, I see quite a few names (Rummie, Hastert, Stevens, Rice, Gonsalves, etc.) that would be a Demeocratic Party's nightmare come true should they assume the POTUS.

#4  Steve-
Thank you for making the point that the Moonbats always seem to miss - that there is a Line of Succession that would but Richard Cheney in the White House. One of the problems here is that many of these people are Constitutionally illiterate enough that they believe everybody else has to go too. Then tere are a great many of these folks who sincerely - and frighteningly - believe that an impeachment would be followed by a 'people's revolution' that would put the Right People in the White House...

#3  Sure, go ahead and impeach the Evil Bushitler.

I'd *love* to see President Cheney tooling around the Rose Garden on the Presidential D-9, brandishing a small gauge shotgun at Wolf Blitzer. Maybe we'd finally get that pyramid of jihadi skulls on the White House lawn we've been clamoring for.

#2  Not that the left has the ability to think, but do you think they imagine for a minute that if it even got to the Senate how many Carter/Clinton appointed judges' names would soon follow? Thanks boys for showing the way!
