Authorities detained Hafiz Mohammad Saeed, an hour after he was released following a court ruling his detention was illegal, his lawyer and spokesman said on Tuesday. Hafiz Mohammad Saeed was first placed under house arrest on August 10. But the Lahore High Court ordered his release on Monday. Released on Monday evening, Saeed was detained again an hour later, said his lawyer. Authorities said they feared his activities could affect law and order but had nothing to do with a plot foiled to blow up airliners over the Atlantic. "We were told that Hafiz was detained under the Maintenance of Public Order," said Jamat-ud-Dawa spokesman, Yahya Mujahid. |
