| #5 Not that I'm naive about what happens in some parts of our society, but I've not heard the song and don't want to. I'm tired of the attitude that because some in our society do greatly self-destructive things, it is courageous and artistic to hold them up as the norm. Not that I shrink from the reality of death -- I've seen it up close, along with other tragedies that struck too many. Too many young doing foolish things among them. But it isn't what I aspire to nor do I find it somehow "honest" to suggest it's what life is really about in America. JMO |
