This Just In: Scientists decide PlutoÂ’s no longer a planet
2006-08-24
PRAGUE, Czech Republic - Leading astronomers declared Thursday that Pluto is no longer a planet under historic new guidelines that downsize the solar system from nine planets to eight.

Well that didn't last long. All the planets that were added a week ago--Charon, Ceres, etc.--are now to be destroyted outright dwarf planets. Charon is back to being a satellite, and I know if I lived next to Pluto, I'd be keeping an eye on THAT situation, what with how Charon was strutting around after being named a full-on planet.

#10  no matter - I'll still call it a planet and mispronounce Uranus just because it makes me smile

#9  Makes a lot moe sense than adding three more. Besides Pluto has an irregular orbit (it's sometimes closer to the sun than Neptune), and it's orbit is not even in the plane of the ecliptic.

#6  The Bush administration's reckless policies toward global warming have now resulted in an 11% reduction in the number of planets in the solar system. How long can this continue?
