I'm afraid I don't know you well enough to let you write your name on my dance card, Mr. Levant, but in his brief time here Apostate has demonstrated that he is a gentleman and a scholar. The nyms do indeed make an interesting study of world history, literature and various units of our armed forces, although I expect "Mrs. Davis" will be beyond understanding without a lot of time in the deep archives. Tony (UK)'s advice is as wise as usual, and you would do well to heed the rest of his post. For those who haven't read it, Dave D.'s incisive analysis of the options facing us (written as only a practicing and expert engineer can -- no wasteful verbiage from his pen!) is well worth the few minutes it will take to read. I don't know that Mr. Levant, however, is ready to understand the implications for himself and his taxi driver therein. |

| #27 I'm afraid you're wrong on that grammar point, Poison Reverse. The apostrophe would indicate possessive; a simple s at the end indicates plural. Your way is actually the common usage though, especially amongst technical people, just as there have become two spellings of gauge -- gage being the now-accepting technical usage, and is so defined in the better dictionaries. (A point I was shocked to be proved wrong about two decades ago, although it was quite salutory indeed -- I'm much less obnoxious as a result.) ;-) |

Then take a little bit of time to read some previous posts here on Rantburg - you're very new and may not realise the depth of experience the posters have. For the most part, the posters are trying to find a way forward so that the apocalyptic visions we all know are possible do not come to pass. If it does come to that though, the consequences will be horrific. A single Trident submarine is capable of killing hundreds of millions of people. The US has 18. And here's the clincher - it doesn't have to be the West that does it, Russia has more than enough weapons to spare, China probably doesn't yet, but is certainly able to. Japan, if it goes nuclear, could rival the US in warheads in just a few years. The time for Islam to get it's act together is running out rapidly - seriously. Your coming to a site like this and spouting off about sissy Israelis is facile when the real issue is the cannon that is being (very reluctantly) pointed at Islam's head. |

| #19 For all we know Levant is correct about Israeli losses. Israel's Army does not appear as ready take down Hezbollah as we might have expected and is improvising even more than is typical in war. News sometimes travels slowly from the battlefield. Levant's sources may be more accurate. That said, assuming he is right, what is remarkable is that this would be among the biggest victory for his ilk in at least a generation. He's doing a victory lap based on the rumored outcome of a small skirmish. What distinguishes successful societies (successful in war, business, sports, whatever they all seem corelated), like Israel, from backwater countries is that they are more likely to learn from mistakes and make the adjustment necessary to prevail rather than blame external forces (the Joos!) and seeth. |

| #3 I TOLD YOU! I TOLD YOU! The only thing these "Israelis" are capable of doing well is making BAGELS. The Israelis again, for the fourth day, tried to invade Lebanese territory. At Maarun Raas the encounter with the sissy pseudo-soldiers took place. The result very predictable-three "Israeli" soldiers dead, 10 injured, three tanks destroyed and a chopper shot down. (An Israeli F-16 did indeed crash on take off-it was "overloaded with amminition and bombs" according to the "Israeli" airforce!) What complete buffoons-wasting hard earned American tax dollars. And they dropped 23,000 pounds of explosives on a construction site. Forget killing a Hizbullah soldier, they couldn't even kill infants and babies-the only thing they are good at doing (and making bagels, ofcourse). I was talking to a taxi driver here and he just wants the border to open up so that he can rip up the sissies. I hope we don't get over confident though, even though we know that fighting these spoilt pre-schoolers will be a piece of cake-God Willing. Total military casualties to date: One Hizbullah (The Knights of Islam) martyred-God Willing and 17 zionist spoilt sissies sent to hell and 21 to the vegetable ward. (The "Israeli" military says they have destroyed half of the Hezbollah military-And the Pope's Jewish). PLEASE-can't you pick any real men to defend your den of thieves-Don't you have any?
