Al Jazeera technician wounded in West Bank
2006-07-20
DUBAI - A member of Al Jazeera televisionÂ’s team in the West Bank was wounded on Wednesday by Israeli fire during live coverage of an Israeli incursion into the town of Nablus, its correspondent said.

The crew was reporting live on the advance of Israeli troops when several shots were heard and technician Wael Tantous was hit in the leg. “Our colleague was hit by Israeli fire,” said correspondent Jevara Al Boudeiri.
"Aim higher next time, Avi!"
"Right. Sorry, Sarge."
"Cheez, you shoot like a Paleo."
"C'mon, Sarge, you don't have to be nasty about it!"
Tantous appeared on screen collapsing before he was helped by his colleagues who had run for shelter. “Since the beginning of the current war against Lebanon, Al Jazeera teams have been the target of harassment and intimidation by Israeli authorities, which have tried to hurt our correspondent Jevara Al Boudeiri and shot technician Wael Tantous,” said a statement by the Doha-based channel.
Ever ask yourself, 'why do they hate us'?
“Tantous was wounded in his leg. His life is not in danger,” a channel spokesman told AFP.

#12  Al jiz must have forgotten to mention that the two journalists were surrounded by
teenagers throwing stones, and were shot with rubber bullets.

Al Jiz no doubt encourages the kids to throw stones while the cameras are rolling hoping..just hoping.... that they will get footage of a teenager getting shot so that Al Jiz, CNN, FOX and all of the other Tokyo Roses can show that footage 24/7.

I think it is hillarious that they are now firing rubber bullets at the kids and real bullets at the journalists that put the kids up to it. heh!

#10  I think that tracking all Al Jez reporters would lead to a lot more terroristÂ’s hideouts being uncovered. Good shooting Avi!

#7  Question: Would getting hit in the ass by a rubber bullet cause an al-Jizz crew member to suffer brain damage?

#6  Surely the Israelis aren't using rubber bullets anymore?

#3  Since a war is on, I think ALL of the "press" should be given a "get out of the war zone" date. After that date, they are considered spies - with all that implies.

#2  Get a fix on any Al Jizz outfit and pound them with 155's until there's just smoking craters around there.

#1  Please notice that these Brave Lions of Journalism had fled to safety as the gunfire began, leaving their comrade to fend for himself.
