Three people were killed on Monday in a dispute over the distribution of earthquake relief money in the NWFP quake-affected areas, witnesses said. Four people from the Tarand union council in Batgram district were also injured. A fire exchange erupted over the reconstruction of a house that was destroyed in the October 8 earthquake. Such disputes between the owners and tenants of houses in the area had taken place for a sometime, both parties claiming they deserved the aid. A house owner and his son were among the three people killed in the dispute. Witnesses said that the tenants fled after the incident and police have not yet made any arrests. Acting Mayor of Batgram Niaz Muhammad Khan said the government's Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority and federal and provincial governments were to blame for their defective policies.
