Militant groups have gone underground for fear of a government crackdown following the Mumbai train blasts and suicide attack on Shia cleric Allama Hassan Turabi in Karachi. Sources in the militant groups told Daily Times that the leaders of banned militant organisations - such as Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, Millat-e-Islamia (earlier known as Sipah-e-Sahaba), the Maulana Masood Azhar-led Jaish-e-Muhamad and the Maulana Abdul Jabbar-led Khuddam-ul-Furqan — had asked their members to go into hiding following the Mumbai bomb blasts and suicide attack against Allama Turabi in Karachi. The sources said the militants feared a government crackdown similar to the one it launched after the 7/7 terrorist attacks in London last year.
