Royal Navy ships heading to Mideast
2006-07-17
(KUNA) -- Two British Royal Navy ships are heading to the Middle East to support a possible evacuation of Britons from Lebanon, it was reported Sunday. Aircraft carrier HMS Illustrious and assault ship HMS Bulwark are being deployed as safety fears increase, the satellite TV station Sky news said. An estimated 10,000 British citizens in Lebanon have been warned to prepare for a quick departure if fighting between Israeli forces and Hezbollah intensifies.

#10  There was a little boy stood on a burning log,
rubbing his hands with glee.
He said, "Oh Mother England,
did you light my smile; or did you light this fire under me?

#9  Yeah, food and medical facilities are better too. Not to mention that the crew is fluent in English.

#7  The US has evidently charted a Greek cruise liner to help in mass evacuations/vacations.

The balcony view of your flat is just lovely. That's where I'd be sitting.

#5  The French can't come out and play : their carrier keeps dropping its propellor, and has to be towed back to port. They may send a minor fleet later, to be the ferry service back to France - after the US helolifts their civilians out to them.

#4  I am guessing quite a few of those "nationals" that want to flee are full blown "Party of God" members in good standing. I am hoping they take the old women and children first and only take the males after all the women and children are safely away and careful vetting. This is the Religion of Pantywaists™ we are dealing with after all. Who in their right mind would be in Leabanon anyway?

#1  Damn. I was hoping they were being sent for offshore bombardment platforms. Nothing like the big naval guns to perk things up in the combat zone.
