(KUNA) -- Three Iraqi policemen were killed on Saturday in a bomb explosion in the southern suburb of Baghdad, police said Saturday. The bomb was planted on the side of the road and blew up near the Sour mosque in New Baghdad area south east of the Iraqi capital, a police source told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA). One of the tires of the police car caught fire due to the explosion. In the northern Iraqi city of Mosul, unknown militants assassinated a colonel in the Iraqi army. The colonel, Mohammad Saleh Khraibet, and his wife were in the car when the militants opened fire at them. Khraibet died immediately and his wife was slightly injured. She was moved to the hospital.
