The second roundtable on Kashmir convened by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in Srinagar from Wednesday suffered another blow as the main opposition party, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), also decided to stay away in protest against "deteriorating" security. Most separatist Kashmiri groups have already announced they boycott the conference. Senior officials here said that the non-participation of some groups would not affect the outcome of the meet. The prime minister is expected to announce a mechanism through subgroups to address specific issues like security, economic development, human rights and cross-LoC travel and trade.
