Danish diplomats exit three countries
2006-02-12
The Danish ambassadors to Iran, Syria and Indonesia and other diplomatic staff have left those countries due to threats against them over the publication of cartoons of the Muslim prophet.
Wonder if the Eee-Yeuuu will back them up with trade sanctions?
The ambassador in Tehran and his staff left after being informed of "concrete and serious threats against the ambassador", the Danish Foreign Ministry said in a communique on Saturday. Finland's embassy in Iran has taken charge of Denmark's consular affairs until further notice.

In Jakarta, the ambassador and his aides left after receiving "credible and concrete threats against the security of embassy personnel" and the Dutch embassy will provide consular cover. Lars Thuesen, spokesman for the ministry's crisis unit, said the ambassadors and their staff had gone to other countries which Denmark did not wish to identify.

The building housing the embassy in Damascus was burnt last week by an angry mob protesting against the Prophet Muhammad cartoons first published in a Danish newspaper. The Foreign Ministry said it has been pulling out Danish staff since then, and the ambassador left on Friday. "The de-escalation of the protection of the ambassador and his staff to an inadequate level is the reason for the departure," the ministry said in a statement.

#3  I must admit I am confused by the Islamofascists timing on this one.

I thought perhaps the bastards had a terror attack planned and were using this to prepare the ground so it didn't alienate muslims or win sympathy for the West. But nothing has happened yet.

Then I thought perhaps the fascists thought this a good way of getting the US kicked out of Iraq: inflame the muslims against the idea of freedom of speech soon it will bounce back on the US and Iraqis will oppose them more, kill them with roadside bombs and Iraq will fall in a heap they can turn into an islamic paradise. Victory: islamofascists. Possible, and this might be a welcome side effect anyway no matter what purpose they had in mind.

Another theory: that they simply want to stir up hatred between the West and Islamic states, this serves many purposes. It gets them more money, more recruits, pressures moderate muslim governments to declare allegiance with the religious fascists and make concessions and gives them more clout in general.

this is the one i'm most sold on at the moment because the timing seems so random yet the effects are clearly an end in themselves - the west has sunk into dhimmitude grovelling and apologising and giving up freedom of speech. Added bonus for the islamofascists there. Bet they never thought victory would be so easy.

The fourth theory is that it's because Denmark heads security council when Iran comes up for review.

Sounds like a great theory but why the random timing.

If this was planned with that end in mind, why unleash the Islamonazis now instead of after Denmark assumes the chair and right before Iran is up for review.

It doesn't make sense to do it before. It will lose momentum by the time Denmark takes over.

Anybody else got any idea why they picked now, and why denmark when they could have picked any one at any time?

#2  They are doing it because Denmark is head of the UN Security Con. when Iran comes up.

#1  Well, at least two out of those three countries are going to be on the receiving end of Western culture dropped from 35,000 feet very soon.
