France tightens immigration policies
2006-02-11
French officials unveiled legislation to toughen admission standards for unskilled, low-income immigrants but easing it for highly qualified foreigners.

The government's bill includes the introduction of a three-year work permit for scientists, executives and academics, the International Herald Tribune reported Friday.

But unskilled migrants from outside the European Union would find it harder to enter France -- even if they already have close relatives in the nation.

"The most qualified migrants, the most dynamic and competent ones head to the American continent, while immigrants with little or no skills come to Europe," a spokesman said.

#3  Don't rejoice before it is done or ven after. French politicians live in mortal fear of a press who is far more in left and leftist hands than in the US and is far more politically correct than in America. So chances are the law doesn't pass and if it passes either it is not signed or not actively enforced. Than the convicts will go to court and our judges don't depend be it directly or indirectly from popular will: they aren't elected, they pass an exam and they are judges for life. Many of them are leftists and in more than ojne case have deliberately ignored laws who didn't fit their agenda.
