| Abu Sayyaf kills police intelligence chief in Sulu |

| A suspected member of the local terrorist group Abu Sayyaf Friday shot dead one police intelligence chief in Sulu, the southern Philippines, an official said. Supt. Elumbarin, the intelligence chief of the Sulu provincial police office, was gunned down in front of the police headquartersin Jolo at around 6:00 a.m., Greg Pimentel, chief of the Police's Criminal Investigation and Detection Group for Western Mindanao, said. Investigations are ongoing to determine the suspect, Pimentel added, and efforts are underway to track down him. |
