Russia views Taliban as al-Qaeda collaborator |

Russia continues to view the Taliban as a collaborator with international terrorists, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Tuesday. "The international community's view that the Taliban are collaborators with Al Qaeda cannot be reviewed," he told the press in London at an international conference on Afghanistan. Such a change of approach "would be a significant step backwards in the efforts of the global antiterrorist coalition," Lavrov said. "We believe a balance should be achieved in Afghanistan between political forces that contributed to opposing the Taliban," he said. |
