| Zimbabwe's inflation hits 585.8% Zimbabwe's year-on-year inflation rose to 585.8 percent in December from 502.4 percent in November and economists predict that it could even surpass the 1 000 percent mark by mid-2006. The Central Statistical Office (CSO), which released the figures yesterday, said the sharp increase in the inflation rate was fuelled by higher prices for medicines and bicycles, among other things.
