IAEA inspectors visiting Iran to verify nuclear program | |

![]() Iran signed Additional Protocol to Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) in 2003 to give 'objective guarantee' to IAEA that Iranian nuclear program will not be deviated from civilian use. IAEA Charter specified the Additional Protocol to NPT as 'objective guarantee' to ensure that nuclear programs of the member states are not be diverted to military purpose. President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said in a press conference in Tehran last Saturday that Iranian nuclear program is in line with Safeguards Agreement of the IAEA. Asked about Russian proposal for cooperation in the production of fuel, he said that Iran is studying the offer and negotiations on the issue will be held in Moscow on February 6. Commenting on extraordinary meeting of IAEA Board of Governors on February 2-3, he said that the Islamic Republic of Iran will proceed with diplomatic drive with the UN nuclear agency and Non-Aligned members and other nations of the governing board. He said that Iran is also ready to go ahead with negotiations with the European Union.
