You could read the article, but why would you want to?

#6  This "Halde" group (which I'm learning about for the first time today) seems to me to be eerily similar to the Soddies' "Committee to Prevent Vice and Promote Virtue."

Sort of a secular muttawwa. Run by thugs to "enforce" the party line and keep folks from having any fun.

#5  A5089, what I find astounding is that you (and JFM and No Pasaran) seem to have an unlimited supply of stuff that makes my estimation of France fall ever lower. You guys are always welcome here, where at least we don't leave goofballs like Chiraq or Clinton in office for decades, except for the senate, where they become harmless (like the Seantor from Chappaquidick).

#4  But, but, A5089, he tried to ban head scarves! I can hear it from the trolls already.

#3  I'm not sure of the exact figure, but IIRC, about a solid 1% of the french public want him re-elected, and about 30% wish him to vacate his presidency immediatly, according to opinion polls.
His two terms were a catastrophy for France, the second one was step into dhimmitude right at the start, with the human sea of "youths" waving moroccan, algerian,... flags saluting him just after his re-election against nationalist/Über paleoconservative/vieux cheval de retour Jean-Marie Le Pen, something so disturbing his spindoctors effectively managed to snatch most of the picture and tv reportages filmed at the meeting.
His dear wife Bernadette was horrified by that at the moment, and he told her "theses were the new RPR (his then-party) electors".

Chirac (aka Yaouled Ben Shirak) :
- the "Europe's roots as are muslim as they are christian" guy, the "Turkey must be integrated into EU" guy, the "Spain is originally a muslim country" guy;
- the man whose grandson is (supposedly) moroccan and whose influential daughter is (supposedly) converted to islam (she's already a leftist);
- the guy with so many nice friends, the moroccan royalty (he systematically spends Xmas in his moroccan palace, like so many in frenhc jet-set...), the late Hafez el Assad (he was the only westerner to attend his funerals), good ol' Saddam, the late Rafik Hariri (who was his "black" banker, too), the late Yasser Arafat (who called him "uncle Jacques", or "uncle Chirac"), algerian fln butcher Bouteflika (who systematically spits on France, but came here to be cured, with Shirak wishing to enforce the "treaty of friendship" with hate-mongering, french insulting Algeria, which is a real surrender of national dignity),...
- the guy who was recently called a "man of honor, a true arab" by the soddies;
- the guy who created the Halde (high autority against discrimination and for equality), an org that operates outside the legal system, and which is able to enforce "equality" and affirmative action through fines and public shaming without the need of proof (the accused is considered guilty on the basis of the denunciations received... the halde is of course managed by an enarque, who was comdamned twice but served no time during the Mitterrand socialist era, once for illegal phone tapping, the second time for his role in the aids-tainted blood selling scandal).
- the guy who gave the Légion d'honneur, the french highest decoration to mouloud aounit, the communist boss of an "antiracist" org (read "thoughts police" who sues everybody who dare to criticize immigration or islam), the mrap, who call for hallal meals in schools, wish justice to enable "blasphemy" laws, is a great pal of Tarik Ramadan (MB spindoctor in Europe), is a supporter of the "indigènes de la République" (an islamo-lefist org claiming that original indigenous people of France actually are its muslim migrants, and that ethnic frenchs are "colonizers" on their own soil),...

Chirac is the Eurabia man by excellency, the "french arab policy" enforcer in all his glory, the man who introduced affirmative action geared toward "french" muslims, who's the poster-boy for the tranzis, multiculturalists (his response to the november francifada was... to blame ethnic frenchs ' "racism" and to culpabilize them) and antiglobo (he's a closet communist, he started far at the left, got into politics with a socialist mentor, and his secret military file during Algeria war told "beware, he's a communist").

And I won't even talk about his corruption and his ineptude (he's basically terminated the Republic, which is actually a good thing).

He's the worst president of the 5th EVER; and worrying thing is, each successive president seems to bre worse than the precedent, I really wonder how it will end?
