Baghdad deputy governor, police colonel attacked |
2005-12-20 |
Five people were killed and 11 others were injured, including a Baghdad deputy governor, in two separate attacks in the Iraqi capital today. Armed attackers wounded Baghdad deputy governor Ziyad Tarek al-Zubai and killed three of his bodyguards when they ambushed his convoy in southern Baghdad. A civilian and another bodyguard were also hurt. In a separate attack, a suicide bomb exploded near a passing convoy carrying a police colonel. Two civilians were killed and another eight people wounded in that incident. The official -- reportedly the police chief in the capital's southern district of Al-Dura -- was among the injured. |
