Attempted Hit On Iran President? |
2005-12-17 |
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s motorocade was ambushed, one of his bodyguards killed and a second injured near Zabol, in the restive southeastern province of Baluchistan Friday. This is reported by the semi-official Jomhouri Islami quoted by Iran Focus. The assailants are described as armed bandits and trouble-makers, Tehran’s terms for anti-government dissidents and rebels. The president's whereabouts are not mentioned. On Nov. 18, DEBKA-Net-Weekly 230 revealed that certain power-groups in the Islamic regime have put out a contract on the blabbermouth president, fearing that as champion of the most way-out factions of the Revolutionary Guards, he may be gathering momentum for a coup. Real glassy-eyed fanatics make everybody nervous. Call it "The Caligula Effect". |

#6 or it could be someone who thinks Ahmadi Nejad is too moderate or it could be someone who dislikes the 'I had a halo' speech because it is too Christian |

#5 Or vice versa--he may have staged an unsuccessful assassination attempt as a pre-emtive measure to free his hands to gain momentum for bloody purges and a coup. That occurred to me too. |

#4 Couldn't have been the CIA -- they'd use an IED for Mahmoud. Couldn't have been the Mossad -- they wouldn't miss. Must have been locals. |

#1 that certain power-groups in the Islamic regime have put out a contract on the blabbermouth president, fearing that as champion of the most way-out factions of the Revolutionary Guards, he may be gathering momentum for a coup. Or vice versa--he may have staged an unsuccessful assassination attempt as a pre-emtive measure to free his hands to gain momentum for bloody purges and a coup. In any case, some VIP heads would roll. |
