4 Abu Sayyaf killed in Sacol |
2005-10-19 |
A female member of the Abu Sayyaf was among the four slain bandits when government troops raided Sacol Island here on Monday, Southern Command chief Lieutenant General Edilberto Adan said on Wednesday. Earlier on the same day, the Naval Forces South reported that only two bandits were killed while a soldier died in the clash. Adan said only two bodies -- including that of a female -- were recovered from the encounter site because their comrades took the two other casualties away. He said six bandits were also wounded. The raid was launched after it was confirmed that Isnilon Hapilon returned to the island, Adan said. "Since September, we received information that they sought refuge in this island and believed to be planning to conduct kidnapping of prominent personalities within the city," Adan said. |
