#6 I would find these numbers a whole lot more credible if so much of the disaster relief funds didn't end up in the pockets of the Pak politicians and military. If not enough "aid" arrives, up the estimate. I believe they have no real idea what the number of dead is/will be. The size of the area of devastation appears to be immense. If anyone has a link to a map with Mercalli scale estimates, I would be interested. But what irks my soul is that before this is over even more may die in the rapidly approaching inclement weather while the Pak politicos line their pockets. I agree with 2b it's not funny, but it is crooked as all get out, just like NO. |

#5 I hope they all went quickly and painlessly (but I fear not). |

#4 I suspect that these are real numbers. Just their bad luck to have this happen post-tsuanmi, post-Katrina. There is considerable mental numbness incurred by disaster overload leading to donor fatigue. That and the fact that the public perceives these guys as lukewarm friends at best and foaming at the mouth enemies at worst. |

#3 I still don't think it's funny. |

#2 Did they subcontract death estimation to the Ray Nagin Actuarial Consultancy? |

#1 God is punishing you for being Muslims!!!!!!! There, I'll be the a-hole to say it. Everytime we have a natural disaster they say it is god punishing us. |
