Security forces yesterday arrested four terror suspects in Madinah. No casualties were reported in the early morning operation that took place in the southwest of the holy city, said Interior Ministry spokesman Gen. Mansour Al-Turki. The new arrests came a day after Saudi security forces captured Muhammad ibn Saeed Al-Siyam Al-Amri and two of his associates in Madinah and another terror suspect in Riyadh.A 20-year-old Saudi girl helped police locate Al-Amri, No. 10 on a government list of 36 wanted terrorists. The girl, Nahed, saw Al-Amri enter a residential building, Al-Madinah Arabic newspaper reported. The girl told her relatives and neighbors who notified police who then arrested the suspect. Teams from the police and Special Forces surrounded the building in Al-Kurdi neighborhood in Madinah before moving in to arrest him. Nahed was quoted by the newspaper as saying she spotted the man covering his face and standing in the apartment building where she lives. He left and later came back and stood in front of their apartment as if he was waiting for someone. âHe was going up and down the stairs repeatedly. I suspected that he was up to something and I informed my relatives and neighbors. A terrorist was arrested earlier in our neighborhood and I suspected that he might be one of them because he was not acting normally,â Nahed said.
Nahedâs father told Al-Madinah that his daughter woke him up at 12 a.m., saying a strange man was in the apartment building. âI went to check the situation and saw no one, so I went back to sleep.â At 3 a.m. the same man returned to the apartment building. Nahed then called her neighbors. Nahedâs father said the suspect was in âa terrible condition. He was scared and sitting on the stairs drinking water. When neighbors asked for his identification card, he gave it to them and tried to escape.â Police, who had arrived by then, arrested him.
The father of the terror suspect said he was happy his son was arrested and in police custody as he and his family are loyal to the government and did not approve their sonâs actions. He first found out that his son was on the wanted list on leaving hospital. âMy son was recently employed at a relief organization. He later disappeared for more than 7 months.â Musharaf ibn Abdullah, leader of the Al-Amri tribe in Al-Namas province in the south of the Kingdom, said he was happy to hear the news of the arrest.
