There were swarms of New Age types hawking their wares, crystals, essential oils, kirlian photography, bokes of magickal spells, psychic readings, organic products of every conceivable description, etc. It was, in short, a veritable kook convention. It wasn't a complete waste of time, however. The whole foray was redeemed by an expert demonstration of belly-dancing, and the performer was definitely a woman. |
Police in Qateef have arrested and are investigating two Saudi men who were imitating the well-known UAE singer, Abdullah Balkheer, Al-Watan newspaper reported. One young man was singing and dancing in his own private concert in a local amusement park. A number of visitors reported the man to police who came to the park and found the man dancing. He was also wearing makeup so that he would look like the singer. Police also arrested a belly dancer on the stage who was a man in disguise wearing an abaya and makeup. Because he was so good at the dance and moved so well, people thought he was a woman.
