| Israel arrests two Islamic Jihad members |

| TEL AVIV, Israel, June 16 (UPI) -- Israeli troops arrested two Palestinians belonging to the militant Islamic Jihad in the West Bank on suspicion of planning attacks against Israel. Radio Israel said Thursday, quoting military sources, that the suspects were rounded up in the village of Harithiya near Jenin, north of the West Bank, for "planning to carry out an attack in the next few days." The army and Israel's internal security agency, the Shabak, said Wednesday that another group of Palestinian activists were arrested earlier under suspicion of planning a suicide attack inside Israel. Shabak said the group comprised eight Palestinian youth between 15 and 16 years of age from the camps of Askar and Balata in the West Bank. It said they belonged to the Fatah militant group and their purported suicide operation was financed by Lebanon's Shiite militant group, Hezbollah. |
