Iraq: Area Man Killed in Action |

![]() Crowe was the fourth member of the Rochester-based 98th Division to be killed in Iraq. Military officials said the attack occurred in Tal Afar, a city in extreme northwestern Iraq. Crowe taught ROTC at Canisius College in Buffalo. He recently returned home on leave to attend the college's commissioning ceremony. Lieutenant Colonel Jim Bagwell of Canisius said Crowe was passionate about doing things in the best way possible. |

Soldiers from the U.S. 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, along with hundreds of Iraqi Army soldiers, kicked off the rare daylight operation in a particularly violent neighborhood just before dawn. The troops moved door to door on narrow streets looking to capture or kill insurgents who have carried out numerous attacks in the city.
