Saudi security forces seized six suspected terrorists and, in a separate incident, confiscated arms and ammunition, security sources said Monday. The sources said the suspects were captured Sunday night while on their way from the holy city of Mecca to the city of Taef in the west of the nation. The suspects first drew the attention of traffic police when they drove the wrong way on a one-way road. They tried to pose as schoolteachers, but police uncovered their identity after inspecting their papers and car. In another incident, police seized arms and ammunition in a rest house south of the city of Brida in the province of al-Kassim, 218 miles north of Riyadh. The weapons included big guns, automatic rifles and cases of ammunition, apparently destined for illegal trade, the sources said, noting that the owner is a well-known elk hunter figure and is not wanted for security or terror reasons. |
