| #6 Wow, story reminds me of SGT SHOICHI YOKOI, whom was found hiding in the jungles of southern Guam in the late 1960's. Even as the 20th USAAF was bombing the hell out of Japanese cities and industries towards the end of WW2, US forces here in Guam still had to deal with hardcore remnants of the Japanese army whom refused to surrender, includ most famously some units of up to battalion(s)-strength!? YOKOI and other survivors became a hero/legend when they returned home to modern Japan. |
