| An earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale has shaken the central South Island of New Zealand but there are no immediate reports of damage. The Geological and Nuclear Sciences Department says the quake at 2:07pm (local time) was located 20 kilometres south-west of Twizel at a depth of 12 kilometres. |
