Father sells off kids' presents
2004-12-26
A California father is auctioning off the video game systems he had bought his sons for Christmas, saying they do not deserve the expensive presents. The 41-year-old man from Pasadena said he had bought three Nintendo DS systems - one for each son. But fed up with their misbehaviour, he has posted the items on the eBay auction website. "No kidding," the eBay posting says. "Three undeserving boys have crossed the line."
Heh, heh. "That's all I can stands, and I can't stands no more!"
The man told the Houston Chronicle newspaper that he and his wife were at their wits' end. The boys - aged nine, 11, and 15 - would not stop fighting, swearing and making obscene gestures, he said.
Nasty little twerps, eh? Well, that's one thing you can do, Dad... but certainly not the only thing...
He defended the decision to auction off the three systems, together with three games, by saying: "Teaching accountability is NEVER EVER EVER wrong."
Right on. Nor is (insert heart flutters here) discipline. It's in the dictionary - the unabridged pre-PC version.
By late morning on Christmas day the bid for the items had reached $740, and the reserve price had been met. A new Nintendo DS system on its own retails for about $150 in the US.
Generous parents - check.
Rotten kids - check.
Smart shoppers - check.

The sale ends on Monday.
Used - but just barely.

Doesn't Pop have any hands? Doesn't he wear a belt? My father, a noted anatomist, pointed out to me once that the spinal cord is the most important nerve in the body. It runs directly from the brain to the butt. He was a firm believer that vigorous stimulation of the buttocks with the hand — occasionally a belt — carried important data directly to the brain. If he was still alive today, he'd probably call it a "learning experience."

#8  However much the parents recoup from selling their brats' Christmas presents, I can only hope they have the good sense to spend it entirely upon themselves. Preferrably in some sort of way where they can gurgle with pleasure while the children are forced to watch.

I'm thinking of an in-home catered candlelight steak and lobster dinner with Champagne for mom and dad while the kids are fed unsalted clamshell mush.

#6  The winnning bidder "golden_palace_casino" has a relatively low feedback rating of 69 and seems to buy and sell "Warhammer" and other RPG stuff. I wouldn't expect this deal to go through.

#5  I' sure (unfortunately) the ACLU is most likely oiling up its lawyers even as we speak :((

I mean we simply can't allow accountability to be taught!

Good job Dad! I hope the brats get the message....
