Sharon Tells Palestinian Leaders to Stop anti-Jewish Propaganda |
2004-11-19 |
The new Palestinian leadership must take immediate steps to stop anti-Israeli propaganda and incitement in the Palestinian media to show it will improve relations with Israel, Prime Minister Ariel Sharon said. Israel's demand that the Palestinian Authority dismantle terrorist organizations is a ``complex process'' that will take time to complete, Sharon said yesterday, according to an e-mailed government statement. Ending ``venomous propaganda'' and incitement against Israelis are measures the leadership is able to take now, he said. ``There are two demands that are under direct control of the new leadership,'' Sharon said. ``It must be seen to that they are implemented immediately.'' |

#8 We don't have to go so far as textbooks, which will only get changed when there are the funds to do so -- the PA is still not finished updating and replacing the textbooks that date from pre-1967 Jordanian rule. Just check in with www.MEMRI.org -- they track speeches, news articles, television programs and Friday sermons across the Middle East. If the PA changes gear, MEMRI will be the first place to note it. |

#7 As for NPR and BBC - they need to be disbanded. The government should not be in the business of hiring individuals who make decisions what news every citizen in the country will hear. |

#6 I'm sorry to go on here, but I've got something worthwhile to say. The only way that a free society can combat propaganda, while still protecting free speech, is to follow its money trail and expose it for all to see. Blogs have allowed those of us paying attention to see that groups like ANSWER, CODE PINK, ACT, ACORN, RUCKAS SOCIETY, mothers against guns...(whatever it's called) etc. etc. are all organized and funded from a very few individuals sharing office space in NY and DC, that have clear with ties to the Communist party and other nefarious sources. This isn't paranoia, it's fact. But what about the news media? How is it that NPR, BBC, MSNBC, ABC, CBS..etc. etc. all seem to make exactly the same decisions on their editorial boards. Sure, some of it is from laziness and wires - but am I the only one to find it interesting that editors from Small Town, Kansas towns are in such lockstep with editors from New England and Wyoming? How can that be a random occurrence? We are told that virtually every hometown paper across the US ..from Boise to Military Times... being gobbled up by the likes of Gannett ..is simply a financial decision. But is it? I don't know. But it is time we look a bit closer and find out. The world is and will always be full of useful idiots. Going after the idiots, like Sikes, is a waste of time. We need to look to the leaders, the ones at the top who hire the useful idiots and expose the funding and ties that bind them. It's not the reporters at the BBC or CBS or the professors of humanities that we need to go after - they are a dime a dozen, but those who have orchestrated and assured the placement of individuals who can be counted on to provide a very consistent anti-American position. And the only way we can do that is to follow the money trail up to the very top. The blogs cannot do this alone. The government must step in and determine if there is a monopoly in news - and if so, break it up so that we can have what we believe in, a "free and independent press". |

#5 Paleo leaders attending the Betty Ford Clinic, for a 5-year plan, couldn't stop anti-Israeli propaganda. The hatred is in their blood. There is not stopping it other than for Israel to kill it. As Bomb-ra-rama has stated, the text books MUST change in all the IslamoPIG countries. Then post a full Arab generation, we will see some progress. |

#4 Sometime early next year, go into a Paleo school and grab a textbook, any non-mathematics textbook. If there are no anti-Jewish slogans and declarations to be found inside it, then progress is being made. The chances of this happening, however, is another story altogether. |

#3 much less Stalin and the 60 MILLION deaths he caused. Propaganda from the MSM and Universities is so pervasive, so blatant and such a sinister threat, that it must be addressed with the same vigor we are using in other aspects of homeland security. |

#2 Propaganda is not harmless free speech. It is a weapon of war. It's time we treated it as such. Hitler was able to do what he did to 6 MILLION jews because of propaganda. Today, the NYT, BBC, CNN etc, etc have become a threat to the security of the American people - for the same reason that Hitler's propaganda machine was a threat to millions of Jewish people and all of Europe. It's no longer "bias" and it's not a joke or a game. If we don't find ways to counter the relentless and increasingly more brazen propaganda spewed as "news", we learned nothing from Hitler and the Holocaust. |

#1 this is quite reasonable. Sharon is accepting that Abu Mazen doesnt yet have the strength to disarm Hamas, but he IS calling for proof that this is a genuine new regime. Erekaat discounted the offer, but I would discount Erekaat at this point. |
