Iraq rebels vow to use chemical weapons
2004-11-02
AS the US reeled from the death of nine marines in Iraq at the weekend, insurgents in Fallujah claimed to have obtained chemical weapons and threatened to use them in any battle for control of the rebel stronghold. Rebel commanders said chemicals such as cyanide had been added to mortar rounds and missiles that would be deployed against coalition troops reported to be preparing for a major assault on the town west of Baghdad. A military committee made up of former officers in Saddam Hussein's army, including experts on chemicals and guerrilla warfare, is said to have been organising forces in Fallujah and planning tactics. The committee is understood to include members of all the main insurgent groups, including that of Iraq's most wanted man, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the terrorist leader behind the beheading of several foreign hostages and a string of car-bomb attacks...

#15  tw and ptah - asumming its cyanide, no, thats a widely available industrial chemical, IIUC. It would have to be something more serious, sarin, VX, etc.

But at least it would reveal, once again, what shits we were dealing with. As if anybody needed reminding. Sadly, some do.

#13  If they did use such weapons, would the world still say they didn't exist?

#8  Did Zarqawi sends his jihad boys into Syria to bring back some of the 'missing' wmd's?

#7  Zarqawi is a chemical expert. We must use overwhelming force and set the weather conditions right.

#6  CW use by the terrorists in Falloujah will result in large civilian casualties. The Allied forces will be well protected, the Iraqi troops will be kept out of the patterns of exposure. But civilians will not be protected at all and will die in large numbers.

This will be the final blow in the terrorist actions in Iraq, for they will have shown themselves to be mass murderers, guilty of fitna in the worst way and will draw fatwha against them.

#2  And all the Marines doned their chem suits as a training exercise last week if I can recall correctly. I think the intel is better than these losers know. hope for a windshift. The "rebels" don't have chemical protection.
