| The Pakistan military says two soldiers were killed and four wounded when they stepped on two landmines in the tribal region bordering Afghanistan. The incident happened when the troops were leaving a hilltop in the Shakai valley in South Waziristan. On Monday five soldiers died in an attack on a convoy east of the main town of Wana. Local tribesmen said six civilians were wounded when the military started pounding militant hideouts after the latest incident. However army spokesman, Brigadier Shahjehan, denied there were any such casualties. In Monday's attack, one vehicle of the 60-strong convoy heading from Wana to Tank was destroyed. At least six soldiers were injured in addition to the five deaths. |
