Arafat vows to rein in graft but refuses to sign legislation
2004-08-21
Palestinian President Yasser Arafat held a "stormy and tense meeting" with reformers in his parliament, refusing to sign anti-corruption legislation and follow through on a speech in which he pledged to carry out reforms.
We expected nothing less. Or is it more? Anyway, my surprise meter appears to be unplugged...

#9  We don't need no stinking legislation! (just hand over the money)
Why does anyone pay any attention to Yashole at all?

#8  I never should have bought my S-meter in the mall parking lot. But it looked just like a RolleiMetre and I was greedy and cheap.

#7  The Arafish is reining in graft so he can reach it all from the chair at his desk. Alimentary, my Dear Watson. Your surprise meters are not broken. They are programmed to learn, and the above story is nothing new, so not a bump on the dial. Now if the Arafish signed legislation, then the surprise meter would go off, big time.

#6  Dotcom, with all the busted meters here at RB, I think you should definitely send in the Meter Maid!

#5  Arafat actions demonstrate a different kind of transparancy in government than one usually thinks of.

#4  Sea - Plz note that I did not post a Meter Maid pic. And you can bet I have one, too, heh. It burned out several of my circuits, and we're talking treasured neural nirvana here - pathways trod in joy through rose-colored mists, but I sacrificed them - for the "greater good". Do I get my head pat now?

#3  Yes. And to perfect it you also have to replace the 'but' in the headline with 'and'.

#2  There's a typo in the headline. That should have read:

Arafat vows to reign in graft ...

I'm sure it was all an innocent mistake.
