The Kerry medals
2004-08-20
Link is to PDF file at johnkerry.com of the records of his Purple Hearts, Silver Star and Bronze Star. If you look at the signature on the Bronze Star citation you'll find it was signed by Secretary of the Navy John Lehman. Lehman was secretary of the Navy from 1981 to 1987. Padding the record or changing history? Hat tip to Daily Pundit.

#8  How can you save every letter that you wrote to your mom from Vietnam and piece them together into Tour of Duty yet not have your medal citations in a shoe box in a closet. Didn't lose any Super 8 footage did he? Didn't lose the Rolodex full of every dude he served with for a day and a half in country either. How do you lose your medal citations when you carry your lucky hat in your breifcase?

#7  Not totally sure but the Silver Star can have a V device. I don't have one so I am not sure :-( Any Dwards and Decs gurus out there?

#4  I'm (mostly) ignoring all the questions surrounding Kerry and whether or not he deserves his medals. I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he earned them properly.

But throwing them back while in the process of smearing your mates and fellow soldiers by accusing them of murder and rape of innocents makes you a world-class piece of shit, John Kerry!

Nuff said.

#3  That is possible, Sarge. But unlikely in this case, I think.

More troubling is the mysterious "V" for valor that is on his Silver Star citation. Silver Stars don't get "V"s.

#2  Common practice for vets to ask for replacement medals and certificates (when they lose them). My Mom had to do the same thing when she applied for Vet benefits. Yes my mom wore combat boots at one time. They may hae just reaccomplished a new certificate using the original in his official records. But I am just speculating on this.

#1  This was brought up last night on cable, think it was on Lou Dobbs or something. Kerry, it was alleged, lost his citation and asked to have a new one issued. Don't know if Kerry gave Lehman the narrative on this one though.
