Many in VFW have no desire to salute Kerry
2004-08-19
A view you won't see on the MM:
VFW members were a lot nicer to John Kerry than he was to them in 1971, when he accused Vietnam veterans of war crimes "on a day-to-day basis with the full awareness of officers at all levels of command.'' But when he said, "For 35 years I have fought and kept the faith with our veterans,'' it was more than some could take.

About 50 to 100 veterans walked out before Kerry spoke, said Vietnam veteran and Bush supporter Gene Watts of Columbus, a former Ohio state senator. And in the Massachusetts delegation - Kerry's home state - two Vietnam vets stood and turned their backs on Kerry for his entire speech. Before Kerry showed up a half-hour late, some in the Massachusetts delegation planned to walk out. "I told our group to show respect, we want to hear what he has to say,'' said Massachusetts state Commander Robert VanKirk.

So some vets just stayed away. Twelve minutes before Kerry was supposed to speak, it was announced: "There are still many seats up front.'' "I've already heard him, and I am not impressed,'' said one boycotter, Anthony Albano of New Jersey. "To me, he's an 'I' and 'me' man.''

#9  The Vets I know are somewhat closer to those ideas about Kerry

Maybe because they are REAL Vets?

#8  26 years active?

Let me go ask my guys who has that kind of time in service. There are not too many that go past 20, and damned few past 24.

You ready to be exposed Anon? You're an imposter. I rather doubt you are a general officer, and few enlisted pull that many years.

As for the VFW, come on over to any of the posts I know. Or the Legion halls. THey'd set you right. And nobody I knows calls it "The VF" (i.e. you are making shit up).

As for Bush: at least he did serve, honorably - so says his DD-214 and his OERs, and he didn't falsify any of the documents - and on top of that he released his records.

Unlike Kerry who gundecked his medals, and has yet to release his records.

#7  Fuck Senator horsehead. He will be remembered in the minds of Nam Vets and history books of the future as a grandstanding coward, who wrote his own embellished reports and who then came home and dishonored his flag, country and uniform and fucked over all Nam Vets for all time.

#6  John Kerry spent 4 fucking months in Viet Nam. My buddies spent 1 or 2 years in Viet Nam. They don't blow their own horns and go on how they are "heros." They don't even talk about it. Fuck Kerry. He called my friends baby killers. I know no real vets that support this assclown. Anonymous6122 if you were real you wouldn't be anonymous. Go back to ./ and moveon.org where you came from. If we had moderation here you would be marked TROLL.

#5  Anonymous6122, What branch of service? The US wussy command? I bet my retirement check that you DON'T represent the majority of Veterans. I work with many groups in California and I have yet to find ONE person Active or Retired that is voting for John Friggin Kerry. Since you are quoting from the liberal que card, so I bet you are some pussy self-loathing swine of a soldier/sailor/airmen. I pity you.

#4  As a kid, I spent many a night at the "VF" with my Dad (Korean Vet). Now I'm active duty with 26 years behind me and will serve to 30. How any VFW member can even THINK of voting for bush is just beyond me and anyone in uniform who dares say so (not many do). He ran the other way when his country called and dadd cia bush got him out. We all know this, everyone knows this. Yet people are so "this part or that" minded, that they cannot pull their head out of the ground.

What a pitiful crew.

#3   "I told our group to show respect, we want to hear what he has to say,''

Too bad that the concept of 'respect' is treated as a one-way street by Kerry & Co.

#2  I do have a moon bat in the office across from me though who lectured me this morning on how the Vietnam War was wrong though.

It was wrong in the sense that if we were going to fight that war, we should have fought it to win, instead of fighting not to lose.
