Sheikh Saleh Al-Fowzan has denied foreign press reports that he issued a fatwa against watching the Doha-based Al-Jazeera satellite channel. âThe report is totally false,â Al-Riyadh Arabic daily quoted him as saying.

The German news agency and some websites carried a religious edict attributed to Fowzan in which he allegedly said Al-Jazeera was a Zionist channel.

âThe fact is that when I was asked about satellite channels in general, I said it was better to avoid them. I have not mentioned the name of Al-Jazeera. I have prohibited watching only those channels that spread indecency and immorality and create division among Muslims,â the scholar told the Arabic daily.
