Fallujah Rebels Think US Troops Preparing to Storm the City
2004-05-03
From Jihad Unspun
In a report posted at 20:49 Mecca time Saturday night, Mafkarat al-Islam’s correspondent in Fallujah reported that US aggressor troops launched a powerful and concentrated attack directed at al-Jawlan neighborhood in the northwest side of the city. The correspondent writes that it appears that this American assault is not another effort to cover the US retreat, but a genuine attempt to storm the city from within. Fallujah’s Resistance fighters waged a fierce battle against the US attackers that lasted some 35 minutes (from 7:45pm to 8:20pm, local time) and were able to repulse the US assault, inflicting losses on the Americans ....

It is thought possible that the reason for the latest US attack is that it was an American attempt to secure the area around the position their forces occupy opposite al-Jawlan, where the largest number of Resistance fighters are concentrated. Al-Jawlan, at least its lower end closest to the confrontation line with the Americans, is nearly empty of its civilian population at this point, after most residents left during the intense battles of past days.

It should be noted that although American forces have retreated from a number of sectors around Fallujah, they retain two positions confronting the city:

1.To the northeast where the agricultural zone beyond the railroad tracks begins, and

2.To the northwest, beyond al-Jawlan neighborhood.

... US aggressor forces amassed north of the defiant city, as the two base centers of the invaders – that to the northwest of the city beyond the residential area and that to the northeast in the agricultural area behind the railroad tracks – have begun to join up. The people of Fallujah could see this massing from a distance and some are fearful of what it might portend, thinking that the aim might be a military offensive against the city. ....

#17  I think it's high time to start my latest rumor - the United States has taken 20 old B-52Ds out of mothballs, is almost through refurbishing them, and will begin operating them out of Diego Garcia against Iraq and Afghanistan pockets of resistance. The B-52D was the model used for ARCLIGHT strikes that were so terrifying to the North Vietnamese. The Marines will have to pull back another 10 miles to be outside the kill zone when the Buffs begin their dance of death across the city of Fallujah. Of course, the Shiites will be pissed when Najef is wiped off the face of the earth, but they had their chance to get rid of al-Sadr and failed. So sorry, shiithead.

#16  When I was a young thug, we referred to jerkoffs like Troll Sucks Dog as GT's: Gutless Turds - back-stabbing cowards.

Then I had an opportunity to work out my issues and mellowed over the next 20+ years. Almost a nice guy, now, but still have a triglyceride count above 400 - so not completely civilized.

Welcome to our pussified world where zipperheads like Kos and Rall and Gonzalez and our own GT's feel they can say or do anything with impunity.

This is the PC legacy: shrill vile hateful cowardice unchecked. An accounting is coming. And regards vengence, well lol!, the "Lord" is gonna have to wait in line.

#13  The history of past posting shows that Man Bites Dog is a fake -- he pretends to be a gung ho, pro-military, knock down the bad guys kind of guy -- and then proceeds to dump all over the Bush administration, essentially calling them all criminals without any proof to back up the slander. Man Bites Dog, just because you sound pro-military doesn’t mean you’re not just a DU operative (or equivalent) out to slam Bush. It’s not like you ever offer alternative, realistic solutions, do you?

#12  If Bush-Powell weren't owned by the Saudis, they would declare Fallujah and Najaf to be terror-bases - which they are - and then flatten them. Most civilians have already left, leaving nothing but human vermin.

Remember the My Lai body counts of the Vietnam War? That incident resulted from US troops being forced to wage an unwinnable war. That will happen in the Iraq theater, unless Congress drives some steel into the Oil-Patch crook's back.
Not a crook?

GWB has never earned an honest dollar in his life. His wealth, like that of his equally parasitical VP, is whore-money. And his pimps speak Arabic, beat their wives, finance terror with absolute impunity and wear weird head gear.

#11  Thanks. I believe that those folks and their idiot media supporters are about to learn the difference between US Marines on defense and US Marines on offense. They may even discern the difference between retreat and repositioning.

#9  I couldn't find a map to answer this question. Is Al-Jawlan, Jolan, and Golan the same neighborhood just with different spellings?

#8  ruprecht,

unfortunately it has come to the point that if we are to win, the US (or the Iraqis on our side) will have to be seen to be unafraid of the civilian shield trick

if the only rules we can play by are the PC rules advocated by the EU, etc. then we can't even defend ourselves properly (similar situation as Israel faces).

#7  US had done its best to push the bad guys into a corner of the city where they are hunkering down for a big fight (at least according to Belmontclub). If this is so we should just carpet bomb that corner of the city. It would be a strong show of stength to the bad guys and we've already given every political option a chance.

Combine that with the release of footage of the bad guys using civilians as shields to blunt the arguements of those that will paint it as a crime against humanity, etc.

The point will have been made, and very strongly.

#5  Wouldn't have expected Jihad Unspun to be backing up Wretchard's Fallujah thesis. I think that qualifies as "information", that being data which does not conform to expectations.

#4  Giving up the south, maintaining the hard barriers of the railroad tracks and the quarries.

Sounds a lot like an anvil. Wonder where the hammer is.

#1  why wouldn't this be true? Sounds like the Jihadi's are realizing they've been duped by the whole "pull back" ploy.
