Westerners killed in Saudi Arabia
2004-05-01
Reports say six western expatriates have been killed by gunmen in the city of Yanbu in Saudi Arabia. The US embassy said it had received reports that a US citizen was among the dead. At least one Briton was feared dead, according to the British embassy. Gunmen are said to have attacked an industrial plant in Yanbu before driving to a residential area and beginning a shooting spree. Security forces killed three of the attackers, the Interior Ministry said.

"At 0700 (0400 GMT) on Saturday four men entered the headquarters of a Saudi contractor in Yanbu and fired at random on Saudis and foreigners," it said in a statement. "Security forces chased them and they took refuge in residential areas and hijacked some cars. Three of them were killed and a fourth was wounded. There were a number of deaths and injuries among Saudis and foreigners," it added. One Saudi policemen was also said to have been killed.

The gunmen are said to have shot at Western shops, including a McDonalds restaurant, and surrounded a hotel. A hotel employee in Yanbu told Reuters a Westerner was killed in a five-star hotel in the city. Eyewitnesses said a body tied to the back of the car was dragged through the streets.

#16  I think anyone that reads this site will Probably (there I spelt it) vote Bush due to sanity. That is the problem, there is a small group of sane peeple, the rest are sheeple. Worry and spread the word.

#15  And this gutless clown is on the cusp of grabbing the ultimate golden ring.

Do I detect a sense of worry here?? Was that a concession speech, dotcom? I had the same realization a couple of days ago, but I'm slowly getting better. There is hope.

#14  well said above!! It occurs to me how much these trolls are like their dear leader (btw..has anyone seen dear leader since the explosion?)

Excuse me I digress... just like their leader, JF'nK, these trolls pretend to be something they are not, in order to achieve political gain and self-aggrandizement. They, like Jf'nK are the very definition of vacuum: Nothings that suck everything up around them and leave the void of nothing in their stead.

yeech.

#12  Kudos Dotcom!!

I was wondering when someone was going to nail ManBitesDog! Ba-ha-ha-haw!

TROLL tactic:
"Identify" self with some of the issues that are near and dear to the group in question: in this case, the cause against Islamofascism. Use the supposed identification factor as leverage to introduce the real objective: in this case, get rid of Bush.

MBD and some of the other virulent, anti-Bush, "pro" WOT trolls, are probably gay, and therefore anti-Bush (of course). Something about the way they talk in their posts--just strikes me as such. But I'm not going to name names because I've got my hands full with operative "Antiwar(s)."

#11  Thanks to Dar's link some weeks ago, I ordered the 9/11 DVD made by Jules and Gedeon Naudet chronicling NYFD Ladder 1 and Engine 7 companies. I got it last week and decided to refresh my memory this morning of the reason we are engaged in the WoT in Afghanistan and Iraq.

It just finished a few moments ago. In the background, FoxNews was on the whole time. At the beginning of Chapter 14 where there is the first moment of looking back, rather than the frantic insanity of that day, there is somber music and a mournful voice. In absolutely perfect juxtaposition, droning in from the background, I heard the pontificating Brahmin monotone of John F'in Kerry with his latest BS idea of bringing NATO into Iraq.

It was a watershed moment of pure serendipity for me that put the whole issue of November in the perfect light and clearest terms. This fucking asshole wants to take over the Presidency. He has no plan, no idea, no clue, yet he wants to be President.

Why? Because he's an arrogant fucktard who assumes he has everyone in America fooled - or, at least, enough of them, just as he has fooled Massachussetts voters for decades. He has sucked the public tit for his entire adult life - wihout any sense of shame or honesty. He's milked a 4 month tour of duty in Viet Nam for all it's worth, proven himself to be the thinnest "hero" I've ever come across, then immediately upon his extrememly early exit and return home, in his first flip flop, he stabs everyone he just abandoned in the back and proves to be an utter traitor and the ultimate disingenuous paradox of what it means to be an American. His hateful view of America started a long long time ago. Kerry was among the first of his ilk. Though in no other way can I say this, in that particularly insane vein, he does qualify as a pioneer and leader.

To my surprise it dawns on me that I know 50 people of higher calibre, of more profound ethics, and with infinitely greater integrity. That's not to be dismissed - it's to be lamented and it begs the questions, "Why?" and "How?". Yet here he is, on TV demonstrating that he's no more informed than any fool off the street and someone with all the crass and craven class of a career politician who wets his finger to see which way the wind's blowing, and runs there - only it's a different direction every day. And this gutless clown is on the cusp of grabbing the ultimate golden ring. He is the chosen leader of approximately half of my fellow citizens. It simply boggles.

He has parlayed his trivial military record, rife with red-flag inconsistencies and obvious political and heretical padding into his own personal tribute to the stupidity and gullibility of people. Who could possibly find anything in this creature to admire? Who could possibly look at him, as a man today, and believe his version(s) of events from his amazingly checkered past - distant or recent, examine his voting record, listen to his incredible and ever-increasing number of "positions", fathom his total disdain for everything America is about, and decide, "Oh, yes! This man should be the CINC! He's my guy!" ???

Truly, the enemy is among us.

Pfeh. I am spent.

#10  one last point..mark just seems to dump bad news articles (as I noted above) and then walks away..like the dog that poops in my yard. When he posts, he is more believable than MBD - who puts out good posts but whose comments can only be described as unhinged.

#9  Classic it is :-) But I think RC has a good point. They come in here and take about wiping out all the Muslim's in order to discredit the rest of us here at rantburg. They probably quote themselves on other sites and say, "see how blood thirsty Bush's fans are.

Yesterday, Mark Espinola posted a misleading article which attempted to paint the economy in a bad light. He then posted another similarly misleading article (minutes later) under "Jesika Espinola" (forgot who you were, Mark?) and then proceeded to fit into .com's mold when commenting on other posts. I'm wondering if the DNC has dispatched professional trolls or if these people have just taken it upon themselves to plant their peculiar seed of discontent.

These are probably the exact same people who call into the radio shows and say things like, I really admire your show and support you, you're the greatest, go America, rah, rah...and I really like Bush BUT I'm not going to vote for him because he's not conservative enough for me.

If they keep it up, I hope you ban them. I think they tranparent, annoying and they make the rest of us look bad. JMHO.

#7  There's always the possibility they're simply lying about their judgement of the terrorist threat, and are simply agitating against Bush.

#6  Thank you, Dotcom!
You spelled out the problem with the new trolls precisely and I couldn't articulate it!
They want a President like Bush--for the reasons you enumerated--yet they call him names and belittle him and say they don't like Bush.
Very, very weird.
And as you said, this may be symptomatic of a psychological problem like schizophrenia (i.e. they mainly just get fired up about killing people, Izzoids or whomever).
I've seen MBD call Bush an "idiot" and Victor Davis Hanson's analysis "more BS" in the space of 12 hours.
That rips it for me!
(You don't suppose it's the "Z man," do ya?)

#5  .com: nice assessment of our New and Improved Trolls. EXCELLENT!

Hey MBD, Mark (aka Jesika) Espinola, etc. I have some questions for you.

Do you get paid, or do you waste your and our time for free?

Are you just one poster (eg: Mark aka Jesika Espinola) without a life, or is there a little army of trolls out irritate the internet, like an army of lice?

Do you really think you are fooling anyone? After a few posts, most of us see right through you....or else just think you are deranged.

BTW..that's the problem with the entire Kerry campaign and why I now believe your boy will lose. They have to stoop to lying and deception since the whole DNC campaign amounts to nothing more than ABB. Like all Democrats you stand FOR nothing anymore.

Losers.

#3  New Breed Discovered

We have a new sort of poster -- assuming these are genuine posts honestly conveying the poster's sentiments.

This new critter:

1) seems to "get it" regards Islamofascists - they're "bad"

2) seems to realize that the "bad" guys attacked us - we're "good"

3) seems to want the "good" guys to kill "bad" guys, not lock 'em up

4) seems to be confused over the roles of the Legislative and Executive branches of Gov't

5) seems to believe that Bush is in league with some of the "bad" guys and / or is blinded by his own religious faith

6) seems to believe that Bush is, apparently, unwilling to kill enough "bad" guys

7) seems to be utterly ignorant of the fact that, for example, Bush inherited the "Special Relationship" with the House of Saud and that this "relationship" has been inherited by every President since Roosevelt

8) seems to believe much of the LLL Bushitler idiocy - just with the kill the "bad" guys twist

9) seems to believe that hatred of Islamofascism is the ticket - it doesn't matter that the rest of the blather posted makes no fucking sense - hating Izzoids will engender an emotional response of support

We've seen this a couple of times now. It's a curious mutation from total fucking moonbat to anti-Izzoid fucking moonbat. I keep wondering just how one travels the particular roads displayed and arrives at this point. I think deep internal conflicts, also known as schizophrenia, must be involved.

Practical points:

1) Bush "gets it" - as no President before him; Bush has rocked the worlds of two terror-sponsoring regimes so far

2) Shitloads of Izzoids have stepped forward in these two distant locales, stepping onto the flypaper you might say, to have their tickets punched - by the military that Bush directed to go there and armed with some serious punching gear

3) Bush has formulated a policy that allows for pre-emptive strikes against terror sponsoring regimes - a very bold and innovative step which recognizes both the lethality of weaponry today as well as taking the fight to them, instead of waiting for it to come to American shores

4) Bush has correctly and bravely diagnosed the problem and put forth the Bush Doctrine - which I won't repeat here for brevity's sake - again, a bold and innovative step beyond the ken of his predecessors to create states where Islamofascism would not be welcome

5) Bush has put the entire world on notice to the threat of Islamofascism and, despite the backstabbing duplicity of politicians of several formerly strong allies, worked to develop cooperative intelligence networking around the world - sharing intel - resulting in the lowest number of terror attacks in 2003 since 1969; lots of flypaper and lots of prevention

6) Bush has joined with all other governments who "get it" to work toward cutting off the flow of money - driving to expose misused or fraudulent charities and other methods which fund jihadis

7) Bush recognizes that there are 1.2 billions Muslims - and has intentionally not advocated shooting all the dogs because some have fleas - the non-jihadis are being given a very generous opportunity to break away from the Islamists and isolate them - whether they have the stones to do it or not is up to them, Bush can do no more than he has done to split the jihadis off from the main body; if they fail to take the opportunity, they will lose everything, eventually

8) Bush has given the Saudis notice that their prior non-cooperation tactics, by which they duped and stalled Clinton for example in the Khobar Towers bombing, are no longer acceptable; for the first time since Roosevelt, the House of Saud is feeling the heat from a no nonsense US President who will tolerate their customary duplicity only so far - and this is evidenced by unprecedented investigations into bank transactions by Saudis ranging from regular businessmen to the Saudi Ambassador and the Washington Embassy

9) Bush is the President and leads the Executive branch of the US Gov't; only the President can conduct the War on Terror; only the President can send troops and personnel where needed; only the President can order a strike or attack on another state; The Congress writes legislation which creates law, ratifies treaties, and funds Executive action - regards actions, that's it; it can't investigate a 7-11 robbery, without the Executive branch; it is a deliberative body, at its very best; it is something else – at its worst

10) The President is the Commander in Chief; Action flows from his / her decisions; What is done is his / her doing; what has yet to be done is on his / her planning list; what you want, he / she delivers - or not, as you are not privy to everything that he / she is, thus plans may not meet your expectations

11) Come November it seems that we each have 5 choices for filling this key position:
a) vote for Bush
b) vote for Kerry
c) vote for Nader (if he can get on any ballots)
d) write in Howdy Doody or Obewankanobe
e) not vote

The new critter has a very fundamental problem. The only person in position to be President of the US who wants what they claim to want and is willing to do it, proven by actions taken thus far, is Bush. But, but, they don't like Bush / shrub / whatever screech now dictates they call him. Well fucking duh. Nobody with a brain believes Kerry will do any more than meet a few bazillion times and hold lots of conferences and talks and take many trips to Europe wearing the latest style of kneepads. There will not be much (if any) progress in the WoT nor will many jihadis get their tickets punched if Kerry gets to play at being President. Only one guy will kick jihadi ass and take the fight to them. Bush. Sucks to be you, critter.

Wait... Perhaps I'm mistaken... Yes, yes, there was a 6th option I failed to mention: you can shoot yourself. That would solve your issues, too.

#1  Let's not forget the position of America's Commander in Chief: "Islam is peace." Folks, you made that bed by supporting that idiot, effectively suppressing Congressional hardliners.

I would suggest that you write off the thief-in-chief and concentrate on filling Congress who will enable what GWB won't do in large numbers: kill terrorists.
