| Al Qaeda Threatens to Nuke New York on February 2 | |

The banner headline spread across the front page of Il Giornale, the respected Milan daily reads: âAl Qaeda: We will destroy New York within 35 days. Threat on the Internet. Countdown begins.â The threat was contained in a video clip featured on a web site associated with the fundamentalist terror group. It announced al Qaeda plans to destroy New York in a nuclear blast on February 2. Il Giornale claims the FBI blocked and removed the web site. The video clip showed three possible scenarios: 1. A bomb or giant fireball from the skies that will cover the metropolis with a radioactive cloud.The video clip was accompanied by large, red-lettered Arabic captions saying: âIf God wills it, the end of America is near.â

An attack on the scale they hope for could actually unleash the holy war that they've been after - thing is the only thing that will restrain the West will be our humanity. A single Ohio class submarine has 24 Trident D missiles (range 4,600 miles), with up to 7 MIRVs, with yields of up to 100 kilotons - Hiroshima was about 20kT. That adds up to 164*5 = 820 Hiroshimas. There are 18 Ohio class SSBNs. I take it back, these people aren't monumentally stupid, they're clinically insane. Something like this could lead to the Star Trek Joke scenario "Why aren't there any Arabs in Star Trek? It's the future..." Cheddarhead, I guess the fixation with NYC is because that's where the Joooos live. |

Seriously if these asshats were able to put together a nuc or buy one and set it off in mid town Manhatten or another major American city (and why do they have this fixation with NYC) GWB would most likely be impeached because he did not totally vaporize the entire Islamic World. |

Now granted, it seems like al qaeda's Dire Predictions⢠are becoming more and more desperate as time and holidays pass in the U.S. without them being able to pull anything off. So they seem to be joining the ranks of the lil kimmies with their spittle spraying. But their worst day will be if they DO manage to pop a nuke or something else off and kill a few thousand more citizens. Restraint gets thrown out the window. |

| #8 Did they give a year? And with that lunar calendar you never know. I just don't get it. If I were a Saudi, Syrian, Iranian ruler I'd kill any Al Qaeda I could grab. Because if these lunatics really succeed in destroying New York it would mean the end of all these regimes. A very fast end, too. |
