Stuart Harrison says terror war could go on for 50 years
2004-01-12
MSH (Made shorter with a hatchet)
Security forces on both sides of the Atlantic have been forced to reassess their way of working following the 11 September terror attacks on the US. Attending a Las Vegas terrorism conference sponsored by the US Government, Superintendent Stuart Harrison told attendees, "this is bigger than everything we have ever imagined before", he said, "we are in this for the long run. It will be 35 to 50 years before we get it cracked." Superintendent Harrison, Counter Terrorist Police Military Liaison Officer for the Association of Chief Police Officers, outlined how the UK had reorganised its counter-terrorism efforts in the face of what he described as a new threshold of threat. Underlining the degree of danger, Superintendent Harrison said that there had been 558 arrests in connection with Islamic terrorism in the last year.
We haven't seen reports on nearly that number, have we?
We are fairly certain there are SAM 7 [anti-aircraft missiles] within the UK with al-Qaeda cells waiting for an opportunity to use them. Suicide attacks are inevitable," he said. "We are seeing UK being attacked overseas but it is by no means certain we will avoid an attack for very long." He added that police had already found belt bombs being manufactured in Britain. "We need to understand who we are fighting against, develop our technology and most of all have the people who are skilled at dealing with the threat," said Superintendent Harrison.
He doesn’t pull any punches.
But much of the rest of the Brit government does. See the above post on Kilroy. The enemy is as much PC (and I don't mean "patrolling constable") as it is terrorism.

#9  Anon, Shipman - chin up lads!

Look, before 9/11 I knew next to nothing about Islam, could care less about PC attitudes and thought that the Independent (where Fisk lives) and the Guardian were ok as papers, just not my cup of tea...

How things have changed; I know a hell of a lot more about Islam now - I don't like it, I've got a blog reading list that is anti-leftist and quite neo-con, I've become much more capitalist in my outlook, I look at all the great things the West has done and take pride in them, I take the piss out of PC attitudes wherever I find them, I call a shit civilisation a shit civilisation, don't believe in multi-culturism, believe that America is truly a force for good in the World, know now the EU is a vile institution and contribute to discussions like this.

We will win this. It might take a long time, but people are starting to get a clue. In my opinion, it's really coming down to this; will there be anything left of Islam when this is over, or will there be the equivalent of an Islamic reformation in time?

So, go out - have a few glasses (pints!) of your favourite beverages and raise a glass to the West, 'cos we're going to win, and win big...

#7  Damn Anon... Now I'm low. Get the guns, call the dogs, steal some liquor, let go hunting. It's the only known cure for the low down civilization in the bucket blues.

#6  ..using it to try and subdue an another civilisation so far unwilling to defend itself (self-hatred & guilt, materialized as PC).

I'd be willing to bet that it's only some parts (the lefty-controlled parts, probably) that are unwilling to defend themselves. In more primitive times, they'd be the first to die at the hands of the barbarians.

#5  Lucky, right on.
So far, in my own personnal perception (remember my life itself is a failure, so it colores my world view gloomy-style), this conflict is not a successful civilization expanding itself, it is a failed civilization (islam since at least 200 yrs) having won the lottery (demographic expansion, mass-migrations thanks to easy travel, and oil money, ALL thanks to the west's advances in technology) and using it to try and subdue an another civilisation so far unwilling to defend itself (self-hatred & guilt, materialized as PC).
Their strenghts are only our own weaknesses.

Holy Sh*t! I'd love to know who they're following around, waiting to see who and how they're in contact with. Did the Sons of St. Patrick send some HE nasties al qaeda's way? Hope not.

#3  35 to 50 years, How bout a 100 yrs! Because were fighting a PC war. The enemy is right in front of us. King Enry the 8th burned the catholics out of England to make his point.

There is no question in my mind that mosques in the west are working against their hosts. There is a guy in the Seattle area, a somali twit, who gets on radio talk shows and goes on about how he loves America but America has signed it's death warrant.

You've heard that bit, We love America, LOVE America,,, But....

Still no targeting of the creeps in SA. Still no targeting of imans that preach jihad. No we give respect to these people. No Respect, only disgust. I want to win this war sooner rather than latter. ( I simmer, while I smile )

150 sheet-heads march in Lyon about the racist arrest of some innocent Ricin experimenters. Should have arrested everyone of them and send them to Afganistan. Show them NO respect!
