Massive cache of RDX found in Kashmir
2003-09-27
Police yesterday recovered a massive cache of explosives in Jammu and Kashmir which they said were to be used by rebels to cause mayhem at a Hindu festival which starts this weekend.
Some 300kg of the deadliest military explosive, RDX, was found in a private car in the southern town of Doda.
The army spokesman said a joint police and army squad picked up two people in connection with the seizure but declined to give details.

#8  IF it was RDX it is doubtful that it came from China. News reporters, however, are not known for having a high degree of knowledge about most of the subjects they report about. That being said it may have been Sempex rather than RDX and the reporter didn't know the difference and read (or heard) somewhere was that Sempex was the Eastern European form of RDX.

#5  I wasn't thinking Chicom's but you guys make good suggestions...I still would assume Pakis until the Chinese wrapper was shown to me. Force of habit, ya know?

#4  It seems to me that China's biggest problem is the Islamic underbelly to the westerly direction. Otherwise they can keep the pot boiling and weaken everyone else and in the long range pick up the spoils. In order to do this, they need to keep a lid on the NORKS and not agitate too much the Taiwan situation. They recently sent a military mission to Cuba, and they have a very worrysome presence on both ends of the Panama Canal. I trust the Chicoms about as far as I can spit. They are thinking long range while we are up to our gunnels in sand fleas. I hope that we are thinking about this.

#3  The Old Patriot is 100% right. China wants a beligerent Pakistan on India's border. We would do well to consider China's actions within broader context of the War on Terror.

#2  Frank, look to the north. China has a lot to gain by keeping the Pak/India fued going. There are several border disputes between China and India, and between China and Nepal. As long as India is tied up in Jammu & Kashmir, China can do whatever they want elsewhere.

#1  and who would have access to RDX? They didn't mix it up in a cave in Tora Bora or a hut in NWFP...Perv? Any answers?
