Al Qaeda wiped out, but we need help: Afghan President
2003-09-27
Afghan President Hamid Karzai says the Al Qaeda terrorist network has been wiped out in Afghanistan. But he says without more aid and assistance from the outside world, Afghanistan could once more become unstable and cause damage to the outside world. Mr Karzai was speaking in New York, where he has addressed the United Nations General Assembly. "If we do not receive the assistance that we need, and if we do not receive the security assistance we need, and if we do not receive the political environment and assistance that we need, Afghanistan will not stabilise and the instability in Afghanistan will again cause damage to the rest of the world like it did," he said.

#1  *Nods* Essentially Correct, in that its the Taliban who's been kicking up a ruckus in the eastern third of the country.

Nothing, of course, that Pakistan can't handle if it puts its mind to it.
