Yemeni Forces Arrest 5 Alleged Militants

Yemeni security forces arrested five alleged militants linked to al-Qaida who are suspected of involvement in an attack on a military convoy, an official said Thursday. They’ve stuck to it hunting this bunch. The detainees allegedly belong to the outlawed Aden-Abyan Islamic Army, a group formed by Arab and Yemeni fighters who fought to oust the Soviet Union from Afghanistan in 1989.
Let’s see, 37 plus 9, that’s 46 baddies accounted for. Just lock the door of the prison this time, OK? Yemeni authorities also believe members of the group may have participated in the October 2000 attack on the USS Cole in which 17 American sailors died. That attack was blamed on al-Qaida.
