ISLAMABAD: The Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) on Monday took on President Pervez Musharraf and said the party had not violated the Constitution or acted against national integrity by adopting the Sharia Bill. âPresident General Pervez Musharraf has a responsible portfolio and he should not pass derogatory statements on Talibanisation vis a vis the Sharia Bill,â MMA Secretary General Maulana Fazlur Rehman said at a press conference. âThe NWFP Assembly has passed the Sharia Bill with the authority given to it under the Constitution,â he said. He said the MMA was the representative of the people of the NWFP who had elected them with a huge majority. âWe are doing everything according to the Constitution and western democracy,â he said.
