RIYADH: Saudi investigators are using Muslim clerics to âverbally beatâ suspects into yielding intelligence information on the deadly suicide bombings in Riyadh earlier this month.

The unorthodox technique employed by Saudi security personnel and witnessed by US FBI agents comes amid a continuing climate of fear and uncertainty in the kingdom in expectation of further attacks against Western targets by Islamic militants. The diplomat said that the Saudis were using âunorthodoxâ interrogation methods, âbut nothing that would contravene the Geneva Conventions.â
