Police arrest Bashir’s alleged replacement as JI leader
2003-04-23
Indonesian police say they have arrested the man who succeeded Abu Bakar Bashir as leader of the Jemaah Islamiyah terror network. "Earlier today we have arrested someone who you might not be too familiar with, but he has been identified as Abu Rusdan," national detective chief Erwin Mappaseng told reporters. "Abu Rusdan, according to information from Nasir Abbas and several other people, is the current emir (leader) of Jemaah Islamiyah, the successor of Abu Bakar Bashir."
And what a paragon of leadership Abu Rusdan is...
Mappaseng said Rusdan took over the regional network, which is blamed for the Bali blasts last October and a string of other bombings, when Bashir was arrested last October 20. Muslim cleric Bashir went on trial earlier Wednesday for treason. He is accused of waging a jihad (holy war) to topple the government and set up an Islamic state.
Yes, because Lord knows the answer to hyperinflation, a collapsing economy and an utterly degenerate body politic is...Islam.
