| Police Foil Terror Plans in Erbil |

| A spokesman for the KRG Ministry of Interior announced that a number of members of a terrorist group operating in the City of Erbil have been apprehended. Local police, in cooperation with other security agencies, after significant effort, successfully uncovered the group and its plans. Police believe that the arrests of the group’s members will foil plans to set off explosions in the city. During questioning, members admitted they had planned to carry out several terrorist acts. Abdul Amir Izzat, leader of the terrorist group, is the also head of security for the Iraqi Turkman Front. We don't hear about the Turkmen often, but we probably will in the weeks ahead. The Kurds have their own areas, but the Turkmen are split between the Kurds and the Baghdad regime. Their affinity is with Turkey. Lotsa worms in this can... |
