| Iraqis are ready for martyrdom: Saddam |

| In a Christmas eve message to Iraqis, President Saddam Hussein said his nation was ready for "martyrdom". "As much as Iraq loves life, its people are ready for martyrdom in the defence of its land and air space, its scantiness and future," Saddam said during an address televised on state-run television. Guess we're all in agreement on that, huh? "The road to deter injustice, aggression and wickedness of the evil-minded is the road of jehad (holy war) and struggle," he said. "And not the road of compliance!" |
