Press Service of the Military Council of State Defense Council "Majlis al-Shura" reported about the combats that took place in Vedeno District of the country. According to the Chechen sources, units of the Mujahideen attacked the enemy in the district capital of Vedeno, as well as on its outskirts. At least five invaders were killed and one BTR armored vehicle burned as a result of this attack. No losses were incurred by the Chechen side. It was also reported that last night the combats were going on in the district capital all night long. By the morning the unit of Chechen fighters withdrew from the village. In response to the actions of the Mujahideen, Russian invaders took six locals hostage, charging them with «being accomplices of the militants».
"By morning the Chechen fighters withdrew..." That means they were forced to retreat, I'd guess. If they try to stand and fight the Russers will kill them. They can run away to fight another day, but I don't think the Russians will let them go far this time. I wonder if they realize how badly they've screwed things up?

#1  I don't think they do realize yet....they will when they try to use the Pankisi as retreat/safe zone...I think that's over
